Saturdays

Sometimes love Saturdays, they can be spent doing the most random crap.

I spent most of the day finishing off my Netherwing rep, egg hunting is so easy these days. I think I found a Chinese farmer in the caves, level 80 guildless alliance DK, wasn’t an orc, just ran around killing slimes, I suppose there are very few places they can farm these days (not that I appreciate them at all.)

Not having much to do after that I flew around looking for rares, found 4 :o Kraator in Shadowmoon Valley, the elemental guy around Oshugun in Nagrand, the Blood Elf and Nuramoc in Netherstorm. I love NPCScan. Well on my way to getting Bloody Rare which is awesome.

I did the Path of Conquest stuff to get the tabard… I was dragged around ZG, Onyxia and AQ trash for the mounts. I told Dan, “first trash pack red will drop and you’ll be gone.” First mob [Red Qiraji blathing] “told you.” So yeah after a run through there he ran off to do the daily heroic so I soloed the trash a bit, annoying to solo but easy enough, got the Green, Yellow and Blue ones.

Last night I decided I want to do Loremaster, why.. I really don’t know, a part of me wants to go for ‘The Insane’ but I don’t think I can bring myself to get that much Bloodsail rep, then back to goblins, and Darkmoon Rep.. and… arg… so yeah, no Insane.

PS. Sorry this post is so late.. I was hoping some news might pop up, that and I ended up raiding last night.

EAP

I don’t really have much to report today, got into a 10 man hard mode guild group… interesting night to say the least. I picked myself up the LW pattern for the mail belt, the Runestone and the hard mode General cloak. So, spent quite a while making use of the little table over at the EAP post on Warcraft Hunter’s Union. (HINT: Click the link.) It’s a great post, really helps you to work out what’s better between items, and gems, socket bonus-wise, and such. If you like to min-max and want to know these things, use it.

Oh and aside from this, being my first real Ulduar 10 / hard mode group on my hunter, many achievements were had :P

Twin ValKyr

After becoming more and more frustrated on the Faction Champions.. and finally downing them, we come to the Twin Val’Kyr. This fight is such a cakewalk after the Faction Champions.

The basic point of the fight is there is one light and one dark Val’Kyr, there are 2 different portals you need to take. Half of the raid should take the light portal to fight the dark one, the other half takes the dark portal to fight the light one. Every now and then one of them will do a move and you need to switch to the other portal, say the light guy casts it, everybody should take the dark portal, and vice versa. On top of this, there are orbs floating around which can’t reach the bosses else they do more damage. As long as everybody can do these things it’s such an easy fight. I think we took more time figuring out who was a “meanie” and who was a “goodie” to take 2 separate screenshots for the home page than learning the actual fight xD

Obviously doesn’t deep breath enough

Only things that really caught my eye are a few vanity pets:

  • Core Hound Pup
  • Gryphon Hatchling
  • Wind Rider Cub
  • Zipao Tiger (?)
  • Pandaren Monk (which looks like a Brewfest addition)

So I’ll take this time to tell you about Dan soloing Onyxia and me ninjaing 17k experience and a Tier 2 helm for my level 55 Druid who survived the fight. Last time we could solo before the patch.

Farming Netherwing Rep

So, I randomly decided to farm the Netherwing rep I never got around to doing in TBC. It’s 20 achievement points (with the exalted and the Skyshatter race) and a few mounts, as well as something to do. Me being the completionist I am anyway.

Aside from a couple of slip-ups with an irritating ret paladin in the mines, around about half past 3 (GMT) … the time he’d be coming home from school, it’s been going very well. I use my turtle to AoE farm the mines, hoping for Egg drops from the mobs, and skinning them for that silly skinning daily (this is also a very good place to farm the ore for the mining daily), and checking around for egg spawns as I go. Fly around the island checking for eggs, and then around the building on the mainland, checking on the ground, in crates, in buildings, behind drake riders. I find quite a lot of eggs doing this, and for herbalists, the island is a good place to complete the herbalism daily.

I also completed the hidden quests, one drops from the elite on the island, the flayer in the middle. It drops a hand which starts a quest to kill the slightly bigger flayer. Another is a drop in the Slime covered objects which drop from the Oozes in the mines after you hit friendly. The other is from a broken in the mine near the Netherdrake, which asks you to kill a few of the Murkblood in the caves. Along with these, the races are very good extra rep.

As well as these I do the regular dailies. The Booterang quest will always be one of my favourites. “Why it put Booterang on skin WHY?!” Just love to Booterang those orcs and then poison them, aren’t I lovely :P . Anyway, that’s pretty much all, just farm a lot of eggs and it takes no time at all.

More interesting Cataclysm updates

  • The Cataclysm will be released after Icecrown Citadel, not only with the date but also lore-wise.
  • The dances we were told were coming with Wrath are still being worked on…
  • Once faction changes have been sorted, they are planning on implementing race changes, which would mean a Blood Elf Paladin could switch to a Tauren, for example.
  • They may be adding the ability to reorder the characters on the character sheet, thank God I’ve wanted this one for a while xD
  • The guild levelling system being discussed will enable you to create guild heirlooms. You’ll be able to buy profession plans with this and anyone in your guild can wear the item, and it scales with level.
  • In order to ensure enhancement shamans and hunters are able to share the same gear, Blizzard will try to give enhancements similar talents to those given to rets in order for them to use the same gear.
  • In 3.3 they’re talking about pets scaling from all hunter stats and also allowing buffs from raid encounters to affect them (uh oh I smell nerfs inc already…)
  • Also in 3.3, they’re planning to make it so that pets can’t be hit by boss AoEs but others (i.e. PvP) can affect them.

New Xpac Hunter Relevant Changes

  • Hunter’s will now use focus, not mana, this will work the same way as energy for a rogue, and capped at 100.
Steady shot will increase the rate of regaining focus.
Rogue energy comes back at a 10 / sec rate, Hunter focus comes back at 6/sec (12/sec with steady shot).
  • Aspect of the Viper will be removed or redesigned as there will be no use for its’ current state.
  • Ammo will become an item, rather than a consumable.
  • Armour pen is being removed and replaced with something called ‘Mastery’.
  • Attack power is being removed from items, instead hunters will aim for items high on agility. It will still appear on items such as rings so that they will still be attractive to both hunters and warriors, though these won’t be high on agility/strength.
  • Haste is being changed so that it now increases the rate at which you regain focus.

New Legendary announced for Icecrown Citadel!

Shadowmourne, a legendary 2handed axe which will drop from The Lich King, for Death Knights and Hunters.

I’ve heard a lot of whine about the new expansion changes, but, in my opinion, revamping the old continents so that they’re useable again, new races and class combinations, massive profession changes.. and of course the above information, which btw I for one am quite happy about, all sounds like a good idea. People can complain, but, if they don’t give the game changes like these… won’t it just become mundane, repetitive and boring?

Woah Woah Influx of news Oo

Don’t you hate it when your PC crashes mid blog post when you haven’t even thought about saving it yet and the auto save hasn’t even triggered itself? Sigh.

Anyway, as I was saying. Whilst trying to complete a few quests I was met with “Go check MMO. NOW!” So off I trotted only to be met with the news that all of the recent Cataclysm news, including the new Goblin/Worgen races, class combinations (Tauren Paladins woohoo!), as well as a huge revamp of Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor, has now been confirmed by Blizzard.

I recommend you go check MMO-Champion for yourself to see. Also the direct link to the blue post for easier finding later on. The race/class combinations can be found nicely laid out here. World of Raids have some awesome live blog coverage going on from Blizzcon if you’re interested in uptodate Cataclysm/Blizzcon news as it happens.
