Lazy Sniper’s Blogaversary!

My blogaversary was yesterday! I actually completely forgot, posted yesterday’s post, and then checked the date and remembered. It’s been one year since I made my first post and to be very honest, looking back at the first few months of my blog, I really cringe. I wanted to delete a lot of it but NDMiko and Cynwise told me I wasn’t allowed so it’s all there, in it’s cringeworthy form. I think around November/December I started to improve a little, but it was a very gradual improvement, which I’m not totally convinced is much better but apparently you guys like it so no worries!

My first post was about my Hunter soloing the raptor boss in Zul’gurub, which can be found here. Hey, we’ve all got to start somewhere. I originally wrote this on my free WordPress blog, which was ‘hunterstuff’, but fairly quickly moved to a hosted option. I’m glad I did in hindsight, I’ve really made some good use out of my hosting and had some fun playing with themes and plugins. I’ve always been very bad at keeping on top of these kinds of projects too, so I am incredibly surprised I’ve stuck with it for a whole year now without any real gaps in posting due to being bored of blogging.

If I’m honest, I doubt I’d have kept with it if it wasn’t for the amazing community WoW blogging has, through Blog Azeroth, Single Abstract Noun, Twitter, and of course just generally joining in with discussions on blogs themselves. There are some absolutely brilliant bloggers who I have followed almost religiously and hopefully learnt a lot about blogging from, and they’ve also kept me entertained when I needed it. The Twitter community is absolutely great, and I love you all to bits. I’m not going to mention names because I will forget people and there are way too many to list, so use your imaginations! You’re probably on the list.

I know Windsoar did a hire a muse theme for her 6 month blogaversary, and around Christmas both Tam and Syrana did a ‘share the blogging syphilis’. All of them were offering to give bloggers individual blog topics based on the blogger’s personality, likes, dislikes, and every time it was really fun! I’m pretty terrible of thinking of topics myself, however, if you’d like a topic, feel free to ask and I’ll flail at your blogs for a bit until I come up with something! Just leave a comment or contact me.

On a slightly less related note, I helped Vidyala by helping to judge her Paladin fashion contest. There were some excellent entries, and a couple that really made me laugh, so it was very difficult to judge, but it was worth it, I enjoyed it. As a thank you, she has drawn my Priest! I entirely did not expect this and it is stunning, I’ve always loved her artwork, so a huge thank you to Vidyala, I love it! We may see a new header here at some point in the future.

  1. Oh! Well done Jae!! I must admit, in the last week or so I have been terrible at keeping up with the Jonses, so I really only just got to this post. I know, I know, I am a bad reader ;) But better late than never right?

Keep on keeping on. It has been a pleasure to watch your writing style grow and improve over time. If you have time to think of a topic for me, then I will do my level best to live up to expectations!

*thinks* I reckon I might be coming up on 2 years myself…. HA! 22/12/08 was my first post :)
    Brangwen recently posted..Leadership Style

    1. Okay, I’m not sure if you maybe have covered this in the past, but do you have any tips on guild leadership for the new guild leaders? Things like, where to start with websites, recruitment, guild rules, and so on, perhaps touching on different styles of leadership for different types of guilds? Wherever you want to go with it.

Also, aww <3 that actually means a lot to me :) Thanks.

  2. Happy Blogaversary, Jaedia! One year is a huge milestone. That’s far past the “initial rush” of enthusiasm stage. I’m glad you liked the drawing.

I’ll gladly and gratefully take a prompt if you have any ideas, I seem to go through fits and starts with blogging. I’ll have ten ideas at a time and can’t get them down fast enough – and then I have nothing.

    1. Ahh I always try to jot down the idea as soon as it pops into my head, even if it’s just a vague title or a prompt, I’ve lost quite a few when I’ve been on my way to bed though.

Okay, I’m looking around your blog, and thinking about what I think of you as a person, obviously you’re very good with artwork, you are probably as big an altoholic as I am, but the thing that really stands out in my head is that you are incredibly nice. I’d like to know, what’s the nicest thing anybody has ever done for you? Something that has stood in your memory, perhaps it’s a gift, or a tip that changed your game, maybe somebody waiting for you to get home before they started a raid, anything that might have given you the warm fuzzies.

    1. Nope! I think we signed up for Blog Azeroth around the same time, ish, if I remember right ^^

Okay then, you’ve talked a lot about how you balance your work with play time, so I won’t ask about that, but this giant spoon – how much light does it see, and what is it used for? ;) Beating sense into asshats? Making cookies for the nicer guildies? Be as silly or as serious as you like.

  3. Congratulations blogaversay-girl, happy first year and I hope there are many more to come. If you’re in a giving mood I wouldn’t mind if you shot a topic my way.

    1. Well, I want to read more of your fanfic but that’s not a topic so much! So, I think I’m going to ask you about: achievements. You’ve mentioned a huuge list of achievements you’d like to complete before Cataclysm. With a list that big, realistically it will probably overflow into the new expansion, so which do you think you’ll prioritise and do you enjoy them and if so, what is it you enjoy about them?

    1. In your last post, you mentioned shutting off the experience at 70 on your Shaman to do a few TBC raids. I’d like to hear a bit more about the application to the TBC guild, what the raids are like, how you enjoy Shaman, and what, generally, you get upto?

    1. Kamalia reached 3 years old just recently – congrats!

In those 3 years, what have been your favourite memories and points in the game? Any particular instance or quest you enjoyed? Any achievement you were majorly proud of? A funny moment or event you’ll never forget?

        1. Actually, the page has vanished from my server… I have no idea where it’s gone or what happened to it but I need to talk to my friend to get it back sometime. And awesome! :D

    1. Okay cool *stretches fingers* Hair tips from a male Blood Elf :p

How *do* you get your hair so shiny and voluminous? As a female Blood Elf I’m a little jealous! It must take a lot of Kodo oil, no?
