A Week’s Worth of Updates

I wanted to report on these little updates in separate posts but what with a couple of non-update posts and blog downtime ((sorry about that by the way, trying to move servers from my current to Reliq’s and there’s a combination of it having a strop and me being inept, there will be further downtime at the weekend)) I just haven’t had chance so here’s what I’ve been upto recently!

Main Who?

First and foremost, I’ve decided not to reroll. I’ve been back and forth a lot over the past few weeks, but as it turns out I’m still too comfortable with my delightful little Shadow Priest who has been my (on/off) main since early TBC and is the same character I played when I met Dan and Kait (who is my new boyfriend apparently). Also, when you’re trying to eat mid-Terrace of the Endless Springs LFR and it just happens to be the single worst LFR group you have ever been in ((no joke)) and you still have issues with the new flat laptop keyboard and the fact that 3 is next to w and Frost Orb is next to w and despite standing miles away it still heads over to the boss regardless while people are eating up after yet another wipe and then the finger pointing starts.. ahem. I do love her though, I just can’t reroll right now. Shadow Priest is just my thing this expansion. Blizzard have really fixed not only the dps, but also the playstyle. If you spec and glyph right, the playstyle becomes a lot more bursty and just so damn fun. Plus the self heals are amazing for soloing things.

The Cutest Little Rogue

In my Project Insanity post, I mentioned I’d started up a baby Rogue. Well here she is:

Isn’t she just adorable?! I have completely fallen in love with Lady Pandas and their [spazziness] ((I really tried to find a better word but this one just encapsulates what I’m trying to say so well)) , it really suits me down to the ground so when the option was between Human and Panda, and the unanimous vote fell to Panda (and one Gnome /shoo!), I didn’t put up any arguements. The name was a struggle as I’d been holding on to ‘Kalithe’ for my Rogue which is literally ‘Kali the’ and that just doesn’t scream Panda to me so I asked and Dan said Khili and it stuck. I love it! I slowly but surely worked my way through the Panda starting zone. I’ve done it before but found myself incredibly bored and just trying to make it end, so this time I soaked it in and found myself thoroughly enjoying it this time around.

I adore yaks. The yak cart gets me every time!

Insanity All Around – Hip Hip Arr!

We’ve also been trying our hands at the Love Dungeon but short of a couple of neck upgrades for my shiny 90s there hasn’t been a lot of luck. Plus I keep forgetting to do it because ugh effort. Still, it’s worth it purely for giving us the ability to say, “Anybody fancy the love dungeon? Space for two!” *giggle*

Along the lines of Project Insanity, we gained a fourth person – Flaps, a healer. So with our nice little farming spot in the Blacksmith hut in Booty Bay, we got ourselves up to friendly pretty quickly. With a couple other.. erm.. side events.. along the way. Not too long before we get honoured and can move on to the next part.

Hip hip… arr…

The Reputations That Need More Love

Last but not least, I’m back working on my Priest’s reputations. She was getting pretty close with Brood of Nozdormu and Hydraxion Waterlords so with any luck those two will be finished within the next few weeks finally! Mine and Rel’s foray into AQ40 was a lot of fun as well. As for the others, I’m doing my best to get my dailies done. Kait really helped keep me focused today by doing Shieldwall and August Celestials with me and prodding me to go do Anglers as well! Then I only had Klaxxi and Shado-Pan left so off I went and ta-da!

It’s taken me a long time but I’m so so happy! I adore this tiger mount model and I’ve been desperate for it since the first time I saw it. Sorry Swift Alliance Steed, you’ve been replaced.

Heroic Transmogging Achievement Runs

Oh! I almost forgot to mention the transmog runs we’ve done recently. My Hunter finally got her Illidan bow!! Squee. It suits her transmog set so nicely. And Monday night, 10 of us went off to do Bastion of Twilight HC and HC Dragon Soul. Bastion was cleared, netting us a guild achievement for Sinestra and the title ‘Dragonslayer’ which is awfully nifty. I do like dragons. Dragon Soul we got up to Spine before folk were itching to head off to bed. Hopefully we’ll have some fresh clears for transmog kit, further achievements towards the drake meta, and fun. I’m dying to get the heroic version of the Time Lord set for my Mage, I adore that set and missed out on the white version from LFR. I’m also really really hoping for the heroic tier 11 chest for my Priest’s transmog. I’m pretty sure that is my favourite robe ingame, or at least way up there.

One of many things I missed from not raiding in Cataclysm

So yes, we’re all up to date now. Back to business as usual and apologies for future downtime. We should be good until the weekend but the server move is going to go through. Ta-ta!

Going Out of My Mind – Wanna Come?

What to do when the internet’s down when you really wanted to get some dailies out of the way for lesser charms? Why write blog posts of course! And what better way then by telling you about the latest project to grace this nutty little brain of mine – to get Insane in the Membrane now that I’m no longer hindered by the irritation that was Darkmoon Faire reputation, whom I am revered with on my Mage, and the fact that I was already a fair way towards being exalted with the goblins after the Hyacinth Macaw farming incident ((I spent about 2 months grinding pirates near Booty Bay for that thing to no avail)) and didn’t fancy losing that and having to grind it back again, purely so that I didn’t get horribly murdered everytime I went to goblin-land, and all because of the glory of account wide achievements! I’d love to have the reps on my Priest to go towards the ever extending exalted reputations achievement but it just wouldn’t make sense so in comes Jaedia the potentially insane Mage. Well.. she is a pyromancer at heart after all (bring on the 5.2 buffs!).

I was talking to Reliq about my brief moment of insanity on Gtalk a few days ago and he said he’s also tempted to go for it, so.. here we are. I believe Hunni, our guild’s delightful kitty Druid, might be joining us too, and honestly, the idea of doing this feat of strength is suddenly quite exciting to me! There can be long rep grinds interspersed with Mumble chat and larfs, we’ve both decided to level Rogues to make the Syndicate grind a little cheaper (rather than paying somebody), and it’s a pretty nifty goal to work towards. I’m quite looking forward to the idea of being Jaedia the Insane now and this guide is immensely helpful. Still going to need to do a little research into how many lockboxes we’ll need each and so on but it’s very nice to have up-to-date advice.

We’ll likely start with Bloodsail Buccaneers, which is another feat I’ve always wanted but didn’t have the heart to make myself goblin hated for, and go from there! And meanwhile I shall be levelling my little Rogue. Wish us luck!

Jae Goes A’Gearing

I had a lot of fun writing about my WoW updates last week so I thought I’d do another about my Mage since dinging 90!

I so have a little girl crush on Wrathion *licks*

The first thing I did was made sure she had all the craftables available.. apart from the Jewelcrafting neck and rings because I always seem to replace them uber fast, though I regretted that a few days later when I’d still had no luck with a ring and ended up crafting one and using justice points to buy another! I’d bought the Inscription offhand and crafted the two epics on my Priest for her, though Dan wanted to send me a gift of the same gloves so I equipped his and sold the ones I made for 1900g which is a nice little boost towards the Brelly Yak I’m saving for!

Next I believe I did some dailies with Dan.. no! I tell a lie, a bunch of us went to Icecrown 25 for Rippur’s legendary quest and transmog. We all hopped on Mumble and had a laugh. Rip got a fair bit done for his quest which was awesome, I got a handful of weapons and 3 tokens towards the normal mode Mage tier 10. It was a good night. So good then we went off and did Sunwell, where I got that gorgeous book offhand, and Black Temple afterwards. Funtimes!

Friday I finally had the chance to start doing some gearing and popped into a few heroics. I got a couple of upgrades that evening (I think? Or was that Thursday?), and more fun was had. I believe we also did Mogushan Vaults LFR on Friday as well which is where I tested out Arcane, got a trinket, flailed about looking for decent guides and blogs and such for Mage advice, and a very wise Mage on Twitter reminded me that so long as you’re having fun that’s all that matters, damage is still high anyway. So yeah, fuck Arcane, I’m staying Frost. It’s a little higher than Fire at the moment and a lot of fun. Arcane’s too.. stand still and spam this for my liking. *yawn*

Saturday I suddenly remembered it was Saturday and tried to get the Saturdayist or whatever it’s called and also hoped for some nommy loots in the little boxes. There were 3 or 4 of us in rotation and we did 8 scenarios towards the guild goal which was awesome, and had a good chat on Mumble with Steve and a newer guildy who is turning out to be a fun person. I like her. Didn’t get much gear doing random scenarios but lots of achievements, a pair of 463 ilvl bracers and I’m just 3 off the Saturday achievement now which I can specific another Saturday.

Shortly after this one was taken, those two started pressing space bar. A lot. Hilarious!

I believe it was also Saturday when I was in Ironforge (it’s been pointed out to me that Ironforge is a much nicer place to chill and do auctions than Stormwind because “portal plz mage” gets really annoying) and a Gnome started waving at me! This is nothing new. Gnomes wave at me quite often so I smiled at it and then I was asked if I was Jaedia from Twitter! ‘Scuse my excitement but this was my first CRZ meeting with anybody. It turned out to be Nev from AH Addict and we had a nice little chat. /wave! :D

I spent a lot of Sunday finishing off Dread Wastes to make sure I’d unlocked all of the Klaxxi dailies and rep I could while queuing for specific dungeons, I’d found myself a little unlucky the previous few days so decided as I was valor capped it’d be best if I queued for dungeons that I could actually get drops from. By the end of the night I was 1 ilvl off being able to do Heart of Fear and ToeS LFR (thanks Love Dungeon!), so today I specifically queued for a few more and got myself a hat! So Dan and myself pootled off and did the first part of HoF. I still haven’t done the rest of LFR because we spent the evening doing Naxx 25 with a few of us, as well as Sarth 3D 25, Malygos 25 and a little later myself and Kait did Trial 10 man. Again, a lot of fun and I picked up soo many shinies my bank is crying! Here’s my new transmog as a result:

I’m really happy with it! I was running around in full tier 6 before because I’d struggled to come up with something unique but this works for me. It’s a nice mix of all sorts and yeah – yay! I’ve put in a lot of effort to gear this fast (the joys of being unemployed?) and I’m really pleased with how far little Jae has come in such a short time. She’s about ready to start joining in with guild raids! Keep your fingers and toes crossed for me for the rest of LFR tomorrow. Now I’m off to level a panda Rogue for a little project which I may talk about another time. :3

Archaeology All the Things!

With my Mage finally 85, my next priority is to work through achievements and collect those last few pets I never quite got. This means hammering the old Archaeology and oh god are there any mods I can grab? I mean of course I already have Archy which makes the life of an Archaeologist so much simpler but is there anything else? I did find a few bits and pieces that actually made me squee a little bit with their usefulness.

For those who don’t know of Archy, it looks a little like this.

It tells you where your next digsites are, what you are working on and how many more fragments you need, when to solve an artifact, you can double click to survey and if you have TomTom as well it uses the waypoint arrow. I’ve been using this one since the start of Cataclysm it is fantastic.

But I’m always having to check between the map and the flight plans to see where I need to go next, which is why I tend to manually fly everywhere and then I bump into Hyjal and start angrily grumbling about this stupid high place in the middle of all the Night Elf digsites. In comes Homing Digeon.

This one highlights the closest flight point to each of your digsites and my word is it helpful! It’s such a great mod for lazy people like me to plop myself on a flight plan and alt tab to check my reader, write a blog post or waddle off to plop a pizza in the oven.

And while I’m in the area, wouldn’t it be wonderful to know where to go to pick up BoE recipes that might sell for a little on the auction house? After all, we all need gold. While installing GatherMate2 to make life easier for my Druid and my future Camel farming, I came across RecipeProfit which tells you where certain NPCs are in the zone you’re in and which recipe they sell. This one is going to make me a lot of on the side gold.

As I’m working on achievements and my pet and mount collections while I’m doing Archaeology, I wanted a mod which would show every artifact for each race, which achievement the artifact might be for and how many times I’ve completed it. Artifact Finder is absolutely perfect for this.

And I also wanted to try out Rarity which takes account of how many times you’ve tried for a certain rare item and thus how lucky you are with that item. I won’t likely keep this one but it’s a bit of fun for now.

I also picked up Steve’s MogIt addon – Highlighter. It pretty much highlights when an item on your MogIt wishlist pops up.

So my Archaeology has become a bit easier to follow now but you still might find me somewhere in Stranglethorn Vale going insane in the middle of a digsite.

How to Win the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza

Last week, I tried my hand at the fishing contest in Stranglethorn (I’m out on Saturday afternoons so I can’t do the Northrend one). I lost to a Tauren fishing in everybody’s pools. This week, I tried again.

I grabbed myself the fish trinket, as I’m pretty happy with my Kal’uak fishing rod and being a fish is awesome, and shortly after I returned to the coast to try and fish me up a rare fish from the pools. Happily, I looted myself a Queenfish, which didn’t grant me another achievement, but it is the one that rewards you with the +5 fishing line ((which is basically a +fishing enchant for your favourite fishing rod)) when you hand it in at Booty Bay and that is the one I was after. Needless to say I came away pretty happy from Stranglethorn today.

Rewards & Winning

To win the contest, you need to fish 40 Speckled Tastyfish which can only be obtained from tastyfish pools which only spawn on the coast of Stranglethorn Vale for a 2 hour period starting at 2pm server time. When you go to hand in your 40 fish, you are given the choice of the following two rewards:

From the Tastyfish pools, there is also a rare chance to fish up one of the following rare fish. The first 3 listed can be handed in for certain rewards, which I’ve also listed.

These are all pretty rare to find but you can fish in the tastyfish pools for the entire 2 hours and they do respawn, so keep trying if you want any of the rare fish. You can also hand in 5 tastyfish (repeatable) for a couple of gold so if you don’t win or get spares do hand them into the Goblin it’s better than nothing.

Preparation

Now, if you want to win the contest, I do have a few tips for you. First of all, you will want to stock up on Water Walking Elixirs (only if you don’t happen to be a Priest, Shaman, or Death Knight who have their own ways to water walk) because it can be very handy sometimes to be in the water when you’re trying to position your character properly. You might also want, though it’s not essential as you will be fishing in pools which only requires 1 fishing skill these days but it’s become a habit for me now, to make sure you have a couple of lures or your Weather Beaten Fishing Hat if you have one, though as I say, it’s not entirely necessary any more. I would also recommend installing Fishing Buddy (which I also linked in my last post as well) which is a very nice mod as it has options to let you double click cast, automatically put a lure on your rod if there isn’t one active, and it can also tells you the timers for the fishing contests and your progress towards your goal so you don’t have to keep checking your bags, plus other options. It’s not a necessity, but it certainly is a nice addition. Do make sure it’s working a little bit before the contest starts as mine wouldn’t do the double click casting when the tournament began today which led to my very speedily moving fishing onto my ‘\‘ keybinding and hatting up. Even so, the timer was still working as you can see in my screenshot.

Location

You’ll want to be tracking fish (very important) and start at the point shown in the image below. If you’re Horde, you’re safe to start a bit closer to the Hardwrench Hideaway but Alliance will definitely want to avoid the Goblin guards. Totally not speaking from experience here.. *grumble*.

And from there, travel up along this coast in the following direction, obviously fishing as you go.

I noticed that there were hardly any people fishing around here, it’s very possible that a lot of people start in the South because of a bug which has since been fixed (even if it hasn’t, you can still see the pools spawn) which leaves the North coast pretty open. I didn’t see another person fishing until I had about 35 fish, and the lack of competition really helps to give you a good head start. The pools also have a pretty good respawn time so it’s well worth fishing around here. You’ll want to start on a piece of coast that you have to yourself for a little bit, ideally. Also, people will fish in your pools. Be prepared for that. That’s it really. The moment you get 40 fish, hearth back to Booty Bay, talk to the Goblin in the middle, make sure you know which reward you want beforehand because sometimes you might only have a split second to hand it in before somebody else does and voila!

If you want any of the rewards for handing in the rare fish, it’s well worth heading back to the coast to keep fishing once you’ve handed in your 40 fish as you can of course only fish in these pools for 2 hours every week, so if you want them, keep fishing and remember to hand in any remaining tastyfish.

Good luck!

Things Achieved and Planned

I’ve had my bucket list up for a while, and come the 7th I will remove it because it will hold no further purpose in existing. I thought it’d be nice to go over and see what I managed to achieve and what I didn’t, because I’m one of those strange people that benefits from seeing plans and achievements in a nice, neat list.

Alts

  • Death Knight – I managed to gear up Soupdragon satisfactorily, even grabbed 2 parts of T10 (pre-Justice Points), one Sanctified from VoA.
  • Druid – My Druid is still just level 71, so not the level 80 I wanted, but I can come back to her later. It helps that levelling 70-80 has been nerfed.
  • Hunter – I finished up ‘What A Long Strange Trip Its Been’ on Fae, also got her the Headless Horseman mount and tamed Loque’nahak. Whilst I didn’t have any Hunter-based plans for pre-Cataclysm really, I’d say I achieved a decent amount still. At the moment I’m camping Scholazar Basin for King Krush and the bird.
  • Mage – I wanted to at least get my Mage to 60 so that I could go out and get polymorph pig, and use the polymorph rabbit and polymorph turtle books I had, and I did. She even has a macro to switch them around. I haven’t levelled her past 60 yet, but then again I’m a little more interested in my Night Elf Mage at the moment.
  • Paladin – My Paladin has managed to collect all of the Inscription recipes pre-4.0 which means less work to do later, yay. I have also managed to gear her up a little bit, especially from the elemental invasion bosses, but I’d still quite like to get her another trinket as she’s still using Warsong’s Fervor. Luckily, I presume, she will replace that pretty fast in the expansion so it’s not the end of the world, she still kicks ass enough.
  • Priest – I’m happy with the level I got my Priest to. Her gear, her achievements, her mount and pet collections, everything really. As she is my main, I’ll talk about this a little more below.
  • Rogue – It took me a little while but I did get my Rogue on Argent Dawn to 80. I hated doing Rogue in Outland and Northrend, especially without heirlooms, but at 80 it’s nice to play Mutilate and be able to join in with the guild a little more. I would imagine that Rogue is a little more fun to level since patch 4.0.
  • Shaman – I levelled my Draenei Elemental/Resto Shaman a little bit, from 11 to 41. It was fun, and the highest I’ve ever levelled a Shaman, but I had other things to do in the meantime, so I will go back to her in a few months time.
  • Warlock – I was happy enough with my Warlock when I wrote my bucket list, she’s still at the same level and I’m fine with that. I’m not a huge fan of what they did to Warlock specs in the patch, so we’ll see in time.
  • Warrior – I didn’t touch my Warrior. Briella is still 35 and I’m planning to remake her with a different name in order to see the new human starting zones without too much travelling. I figured 35 isn’t too high, might as well. I haven’t started a Warrior on Horde yet, either, though will probably do a Blood Elf sometime.

Overall, I’m happy with where my alts are. I’d have liked to get my Druid up to 80 and sorted out Blacksmithing (probably on my Paladin) but it’s not the end of the world (well..) I can sort that out in Cataclysm still.

Achievements

  • Loremaster – I only had a little bit of Kalimdor left for my Priest and I finished it. Sure, it might have been easier to wait as I’m doing the new zones as well to complete all of those achievements and see the quests, but I’m still glad I did it.
  • 10,000 Honorable Kills – I did achieve perhaps 3k more honourable kills than I had, but I needed about 3k more to reach 10k. I’m just not a PvPer, I know it’s an easy one, but I don’t really enjoy PvPing. I’m bad at it!
  • 100 Wintergrasp wins – I’m perhaps 30 off getting this one, but no. As I said above, I’m not really a PvPer and I really couldn’t be arsed after a while.
  • Frostbitten & Bloody Rare – I did get Bloody Rare, but I’m still 2 away from Frostbitten. The guy in Icecrown, who I have found dead but not alive, and Old Crystalbark, the tree outside of Nexus. I do look but I’m never lucky – the trouble is, I started going to bed at a normal time, I used to find a lot at around 2 in the morning but I’m asleep by 11 these days, and I don’t log in when I’ve just woken up so I’m online and looking when everybody else is around.
  • Salty – Well, I did manage to win the Stranglethorn fishing contest which felt absolutely brilliant and I love my fish trinket! But I haven’t had any luck with the rare fish and haven’t bothered fishing up Lurker yet. Another one I’ll go back to, it was starting to send me insane.
  • 40 Exalteds – I still haven’t finished my Consortium rep, but I have got 40 exalteds and 45 is going to be piss easy.
  • Pet Collection – I’m very happy with where my pet collection is now. Just a couple more festival pets, 4 I can get from the Blizz store, plus a couple of the new pets I haven’t worked on yet. I have 124 pets at the moment, just can’t afford the Blizz store pets right now *sniff*
  • 100 Mounts – This one was pretty recent actually. You probably remember the post in which I admitted realising I hadn’t picked up the newer Horde mounts (Ochre Skeletal Horse and a couple of level 20 ones) which gave me the 4 I needed for the 100. I felt a bit silly for forgetting them, I’d got them on my Hunter previously, but it was damn nice to finally get 100 mounts.
  • Turtle Mount – Not yet, see: rare fish.
  • AQ Chain – I didn’t bother in the end. Couldn’t get a group for Blackwing Lair and decided I didn’t care enough so I left it.
  • Midsummer – Yup, mentioned it above. I did get Midsummer finished on my Hunter.
  • Doomguard – I didn’t bother with this one either, she has it now though so – woop!

Raiding

  • Gear – My Priest’s gear is at a good point. I have got as much from Icecrown as I could from pugging, including 2 tokens to upgrade 2 pieces of T10 to Sanctified. I was very pleased with that and even got a little trinket luck from 10 man Heroic Gunship!
  • Lich King Dead – A friend of mine turned around one day and asked if I wouldn’t to join his guild’s 10 man alt run to Icecrown. I said yes, sure, never expected to complete so many hardmodes, and definitely didn’t expect to kill the Lich King that day, but we did. Most of the others had killed him on 25 already, and I’d read up and watched enough videos of the fight to know what I was doing, and it went down, and it felt absolutely brilliant to achieve something I didn’t expect to achieve until level 85.
  • Ruby Sanctum Clear – I haven’t even entered the Ruby Sanctum, sadly, because I couldn’t bring myself to pug it, and I didn’t get in on anybody’s 10 man runs, but I’m sure we’ll pop back at 85 to say hello.

Economy/Gold

My goal was to reach 70,000g in order to afford all of this stuff and have a bit left over. Well, I achieved that and then kept going and I’m currently sitting on 210,000g. God bless Glyphmas! My only real goal now is to keep it above 200k and anything else is a bonus – I don’t have much need for any more gold than that, but I enjoy making it, and I’m sure I’ll enjoy seeing what I can make gold from in Cataclysm.

Plans for Cataclysm

So, picking through what I achieved compared to what I planned to achieve is one thing. Overall I have achieved pretty much everything I wanted to, plus a bit extra, with only a couple of exceptions. My plans for Cataclysm, whilst not set in stone, would have to be the following:

  1. Level Seithir, my Shadow Priest, to 85 as fast as I can manage.
  2. Once levelled, work on levelling up Enchanting and Tailoring to max and doing instances. Collect a healing offset.
  3. Probably then start raiding.

Then I get a bit more lenient, so I’ll switch to bullet points.

  • Work on any new achievements, or old ones I’ve missed.
  • Collect the new pets.
  • Start farming the new mounts.
  • Gather new rep.
  • Level profession alts first: Paladin, Druid, Warlock, Mage. Once able to – level their professions.
  • Commence gold making.

They’re the main things I want to focus on. Once I’ve done all of that, or at least started, I can carry on camping rares on my Hunter, levelling any other alts I’d like to level, start focusing on other servers on the side, and so on. I’m really looking forward to it now! I hope Cataclysm is a damn sight better than Wrath was.

What about you? Anything you managed to achieve or didn’t quite manage to before Cataclysm? Something you’re particularly proud of? What are your plans for Cataclysm?

Felt A Bit Of An Idiot, But..

Why is it that I only think of things to write and feel like writing them AFTER nano comes along and takes up such a large chunk of my time? Le sigh. I have a few in drafts at the moment, will try to find some time.. somewhere! In the meantime, I realised that rerolling is fun. Want to know why? Apparently there were 4 reputation mounts that I didn’t own. Remember when they added the Ochre Skeletal Warhorse and 3 level 20 mounts? Yeah, guess how many I needed for my 100 achievement? I’ll give you a clue:

Forgive Me For I Have Sinned..

It’s been 9 days since I last posted ((though I’m ecstatic that my last post seems to have been so useful for a fair few of you!)), and I haven’t exactly had writer’s block, I’ve had plenty to blog about, a list of topics ready to be written. I’d planned to do a little post about how I was enjoying levelling my Mage upto 60 to get the Tome of Polymorph Piggy, and how I started levelling my Druid upto 70, so that I could get the epic flight form quest done to make mine and Dan’s Raven Lord runs a lot easier, and that I’d rediscovered how awesome Druid healing was, I even had a little bit of link love for some newly discovered blogs. All of the passion for these subjects came and went, I was either too busy getting things done, levelling said alts, seeing friends, reading, (whatever it is I do outside of blogging), or I simply wasn’t in the mood to write, which admittedly made up a large part of it, and I guess it still does, which is why I’m rambling a bit now.

The thing is, a friend of mine moved his Paladin over to Terenas a while back, where my Alliance alts live, and while helping him with group quests I logged into Soupdragon, my Night Elf Death Knight, because I figured a plate class would be easier to murderise elites than a Hunter who I haven’t played in months, and playing her reminded me of how much I loved the character, and the fact that I still needed to gear her up and improve my playstyle a little.

Now he’s got himself to 80, we’re doing a few heroics to gear him up, and in the meantime, I might be gearing myself up a little too. I already had a Ghoulslicer sitting in my bank, so when I got a Black Icicle I decided it was time to try out Frost dps (I’ve almost always been Unholy), and honestly, it’s taken me a few days to get the hang of it and really get used to it, for a while it felt weird as I’d been Unholy for so long, but I’m really starting to enjoy it now and finding it to be a much better spec for my dps as well. I find Frost has a fair few more buttons to play with, for single target, and for AoE. I guess it’s also important to note that I’ve never really been a big fan of Blood, it’s great for soloing things but I find it a little too “spammy” for my preferences. Frost is perfect, really, and I’m trying to get my hands on another Black Icicle – though if I got my hands on a decent 2hander upgrade I wouldn’t say no to going Unholy again.

I’m sitting on about 4.7k gearscore at the moment, and I’m pulling off anywhere between about 5k-7k dps depending on which boss and the group setup, which I think is perfectly fine for the first few bosses in ICC 10 but I’m not even going to try until I’ve finished my BiS heroic gear set, which also seems to include 3 crafted pieces (chest, wrist, boots) for a total of 8,000g, and 2 parts of tier 10 – the Sanctified legs I paid a guy in Vault 5,000g for because I really badly wanted them, luckily he was happy to trade for the gold, the shoulders I earned through many weeklies and a few random heroics (well, I say that, I’ll have them by Sunday).

I have had some really awesome pugs in this battlegroup, and on this server, which sucks a bit that it’s not going to be my main server because it is my favourite of the 3 I play on, but everybody I’ll be playing with in Cataclysm wants to stay on Vashj so I’ll be keeping my Alliance alts there, definitely. There was the Icecrown geared Warrior tank who kept apologising whenever anybody died, despite it not being his fault, more likely the healer’s who seemed to have a problem with dispelling. We stuck with him for another random because he was pretty cool, but after he called my friend “palladin,” he wanted to leave and reform, so we did. There have been many pugs where the group have complimented each other, stuck together after wipes and had a bit of a laugh while we waited for new members, people making mistakes and not being berated for it, and it’s just been a pleasure, a real breath of fresh air to get away from “omg noobs!”

Mind you, I’ve also had a couple of terrible pugs, giving me people to add to my ignore list, though by this point I think my Rogue had around 10-15 people on hers. One where the tank was so terrible that I decided to gather myself a tank gear set when I finish my dps gear set, just because I know I can do much better than they did. It was the kind of tank who ignored patrols, let people die a lot, stood around staring at the next pull, just jumping around for no real reason except perhaps to see their Night Elf twizzle in the air.. I don’t mind people who are clearly new to tanking, but I tanked more of that instance than they did. Another in which the tank insulted my friend, the Mage, and the healer for not being good enough. They kept dying, and doing around 2k dps, in Halls of Lightning heroic, each with about 3k gearscore, honestly they were doing good with what they had. I was in a particularly bad mood and really laid into the guy, I hate egotistical twats who treat other people unnecessarily nastily. After I was finished with him, he shutup and carried on, until the healer, a Paladin, struggled to heal Loken because they kept being one shot by the Lightning Nova. The tank left with a “omg you fucking noobs” and the Mage got in his much better geared friend and we got it down. The other one that stuck in my mind was more of a case of I’d had a terrifically bad few days, and the guy wearing heroic Dawnbreaker’s taking the normal Forge of Souls boots (which I’d greeded on hoping to win them to replace my blue ones, but didn’t want to need on them because I thought it was rude for the Death Knight to take Shield Block boots for their offspec.. well yeah you can see where I’m going with this), the guy took them. I asked why, he said “cause I can”, I said “a little dickish”, he said “good job I’m a dick” and left. I was not a happy panda, so it’s a damn good job I’d pugged with some lovely people earlier on, and the following heroic wasn’t quite so bad, else I’d have ended the night with a really bad taste in my mouth.

I also decided to get her a few of the easier achievements, like ‘the Explorer’, and ‘Ambassador’, it gives me something to do and gets Soup a couple of titles that aren’t ‘the Patient’, which I really don’t think suits her. The reason I’m spending so much time and effort on her? No, I haven’t rerolled again, it’s just that all my Priest really has to do at the moment is grind and PvP which aren’t particularly exciting activities to me, I mean, once in a while I don’t mind, but every day, every week and it becomes a chore, so I thought I’d play my Death Knight a little, to give me something to do in the meantime while I’m not reading, or watching anime.

And here’s the link love I mentioned.

The past few weeks I’m come across a few blogs who I added to my reader, and I feel they’re well worth sharing, check them out and go and say hello!

Loremaster Number 2 Please

I realise that most of you think I’m crazy for having 2 characters with Loremaster, and of course, it was a little bit dé jà vu, but I did most of it on my Priest early last year, then rerolled to my Hunter before I could finish Kalimdor. Of course, assuming I was sticking with my Hunter, I went through it all again, with the brains to realise it’d be best to do Kalimdor first THEN Eastern Kingdoms. When I went back to my Priest, I had 80 quests left until I had the achievement. Did you really think I was gonna leave it like that? Noway! Anyway, so, I’ve slacked a bit but finally:

I think when it gets to the point when you have 2 characters with Loremaster, you reach the point where ‘the Insane’ seems like an excellent idea. I just need to find a bit of insanity first.

My Gametime Ran Out

Now I have your attention! I’m not quitting, just taking 2 or 3 weeks off to do other stuff. I want to try out Aion a little now the population has died down – I never really got bored of it before, just that I had a problem with rubberbanding and Brewfest came out, BREWFEST IS IMPORTANT. Besides, I hear they’ve patched a few things, like more quests to make it a bit less grindy. This time I might try an Elios, to see a few different quests, though I think we all know Asmodians are way cooler. Also have a pile of anime I want to watch, working through Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood now, after finishing Fullmetal Alchemist and the movie. Everybody keeps telling me that Brotherhood is much better and I wanted to see how they ended it in the new series! I’m weak. Was going to watch Clannad.

It seems that yesterday my friend got me a going away present. I sat waiting for this pug group to form for.. probably around 40 minutes, right as I was about to leave they magically filled the last 4 spots. By this point, I couldn’t be arsed. However, I’m too nice and don’t like to piss people off too much so I thought, meh, it’ll get it done. Cleared through the first room, got to the beginning of the last room and about every Skeletal.. whatever they’re called in the place aggroed. Of course, the tanks let the mobs run around the raid while they tried to pick those up and cleaved people, then we wiped. Ran back in, one tank ran off on his own grabbed a Skeletal Giant, cleaved the Warlock, both died and he screamed at the healers, who were nowhere near him. Then everybody left, hallelujah. One guy decided to call that tank a ‘nigger tard’, and I decided to report his ass – don’t you love reporting douches? I decided to log off for a bit, watch something while my flask was on, and my friend popped up on msn asking if I wanted to join his guild’s alt/main ICC 10 raid.

I wasn’t on vent for the entire thing (do need to sort that out), but even so, we got a bunch of hardmodes done ((just missed Saurfang, Putricide, Blood Princes, and the last 3)) and on Gunship, lo and behold, I finally managed to replace the bloody Sundial! *hugs Muradin’s Spyglass* I actually think this may have been one of the happiest moments in WoW, as I have never had good trinket luck in my entire time of playing.

Next, I do my usual squeeling over Stinky (because he is way better than Precious *nod*), then murdering Precious, and woop it’s my loot, and oh, nice one. Precious’s Ribbon.

By this point I’d also worked out why my game kept freezing when we pulled certain bosses, Gunship, Blood Princes, and Dreamwalker, had happened in the last ICC raid I did too. Each one has a health box in the UI, so you can see how much health the gunships are at, how much health the Princes have, how much health Dreamwalker has. Each one of them froze my game on pull. ((have run a WoW repair now, so hopefully that’s fixed for when I come back))

Finally, we killed Sindragosa, which was in fact the first time I’ve seen her dead, and then Lich King tries. Wow, suddenly quite glad I read the tactics and watched the TankSpot video back when I joined Supreme because I have an inkling on what’s going to happen. My friend also explained the way they do it to me in whispers, and to be honest, it doesn’t sound like a hard fight at all. Run to adds with the debuff, go on the ledge, kill adds, move off ledge kill Val’kyr and move out of shit on the floor, move back to ledge, kill adds, finish off adds, kill Lich King, move out of shit on floor. I think we wiped 3 times and then downed it. Honestly, I may have been just a little speechless. I didn’t expect to kill the Lich King before the 4.0 mega nerf patch, maybe even 85, so killing it when I was actually able to take part properly and not feel boosted (25% buff helped, obviously, but you get my point) was absolutely amazing! So now I’m a Kingslayer, and I’m hugely grateful to my friend for getting me the raid spot, I had a really good time and achieved a few things I never expected. I’m still going to use ‘Hand of A’dal’ because that is my favourite title, but it’s nice to know I have it.

You know something? I finally feel a little proud of my character again. She has geared up nicely because I’ve put in a lot of effort, I loves her Brewfest Ram, and Windrider Cub, and she has achieved things that my Hunter hasn’t. Now I’m going to take a break so that I can continue playing without taking things quite so seriously, and I don’t intend to stop blogging. I may even mention a few non-WoW related things, for starters, I’d like to talk a little about my initial thoughts about Aion this time around possibly, but don’t worry, it’ll only be 2 or 3 weeks.
