Jae Goes A’Gearing

I had a lot of fun writing about my WoW updates last week so I thought I’d do another about my Mage since dinging 90!

I so have a little girl crush on Wrathion *licks*

The first thing I did was made sure she had all the craftables available.. apart from the Jewelcrafting neck and rings because I always seem to replace them uber fast, though I regretted that a few days later when I’d still had no luck with a ring and ended up crafting one and using justice points to buy another! I’d bought the Inscription offhand and crafted the two epics on my Priest for her, though Dan wanted to send me a gift of the same gloves so I equipped his and sold the ones I made for 1900g which is a nice little boost towards the Brelly Yak I’m saving for!

Next I believe I did some dailies with Dan.. no! I tell a lie, a bunch of us went to Icecrown 25 for Rippur’s legendary quest and transmog. We all hopped on Mumble and had a laugh. Rip got a fair bit done for his quest which was awesome, I got a handful of weapons and 3 tokens towards the normal mode Mage tier 10. It was a good night. So good then we went off and did Sunwell, where I got that gorgeous book offhand, and Black Temple afterwards. Funtimes!

Friday I finally had the chance to start doing some gearing and popped into a few heroics. I got a couple of upgrades that evening (I think? Or was that Thursday?), and more fun was had. I believe we also did Mogushan Vaults LFR on Friday as well which is where I tested out Arcane, got a trinket, flailed about looking for decent guides and blogs and such for Mage advice, and a very wise Mage on Twitter reminded me that so long as you’re having fun that’s all that matters, damage is still high anyway. So yeah, fuck Arcane, I’m staying Frost. It’s a little higher than Fire at the moment and a lot of fun. Arcane’s too.. stand still and spam this for my liking. *yawn*

Saturday I suddenly remembered it was Saturday and tried to get the Saturdayist or whatever it’s called and also hoped for some nommy loots in the little boxes. There were 3 or 4 of us in rotation and we did 8 scenarios towards the guild goal which was awesome, and had a good chat on Mumble with Steve and a newer guildy who is turning out to be a fun person. I like her. Didn’t get much gear doing random scenarios but lots of achievements, a pair of 463 ilvl bracers and I’m just 3 off the Saturday achievement now which I can specific another Saturday.

Shortly after this one was taken, those two started pressing space bar. A lot. Hilarious!

I believe it was also Saturday when I was in Ironforge (it’s been pointed out to me that Ironforge is a much nicer place to chill and do auctions than Stormwind because “portal plz mage” gets really annoying) and a Gnome started waving at me! This is nothing new. Gnomes wave at me quite often so I smiled at it and then I was asked if I was Jaedia from Twitter! ‘Scuse my excitement but this was my first CRZ meeting with anybody. It turned out to be Nev from AH Addict and we had a nice little chat. /wave! :D

I spent a lot of Sunday finishing off Dread Wastes to make sure I’d unlocked all of the Klaxxi dailies and rep I could while queuing for specific dungeons, I’d found myself a little unlucky the previous few days so decided as I was valor capped it’d be best if I queued for dungeons that I could actually get drops from. By the end of the night I was 1 ilvl off being able to do Heart of Fear and ToeS LFR (thanks Love Dungeon!), so today I specifically queued for a few more and got myself a hat! So Dan and myself pootled off and did the first part of HoF. I still haven’t done the rest of LFR because we spent the evening doing Naxx 25 with a few of us, as well as Sarth 3D 25, Malygos 25 and a little later myself and Kait did Trial 10 man. Again, a lot of fun and I picked up soo many shinies my bank is crying! Here’s my new transmog as a result:

I’m really happy with it! I was running around in full tier 6 before because I’d struggled to come up with something unique but this works for me. It’s a nice mix of all sorts and yeah – yay! I’ve put in a lot of effort to gear this fast (the joys of being unemployed?) and I’m really pleased with how far little Jae has come in such a short time. She’s about ready to start joining in with guild raids! Keep your fingers and toes crossed for me for the rest of LFR tomorrow. Now I’m off to level a panda Rogue for a little project which I may talk about another time. :3

Goodbye Cataclysm!

Here we are. The last day of Cataclysm. Finally! I’m sure you guys know that I wasn’t Cataclysm’s greatest fan. I quit for 3 months and barely played for most of it. It wasn’t until I found Harvest Moon that I fell in love with the game all over again. From what I hear, Mists will change a lot of the things that I didn’t like and I am very excited to see what’s new.

But Cataclysm wasn’t all bad. The new 1-60 quests were really cool if you stuck around long enough to see them (very difficult with current levelling speeds) and I loved that you could actually just get instance quests from inside the instances rather than traipsing around Azeroth and doing hand stands just to get a couple of dungeon quests like before. I liked the new zones before they got tedious and samey. The Molten Front dailies were actually a lot of fun and the new mounts and pets across the board were awesome. I loved the new ZG and ZA instances, despite never getting my tiger mount. And the introduction of LFR was a great one for people like myself!

I’m looking forward to exploring Pandaria with the Moonies and have been taking a look at Shadow Priest things today. We have my talent spec and glyphs here. Pre-raid gear list, followed by an example of BiS and some playstyle tips. And this MMO-C post is going to be so useful to me! I double checked my stat weights on HowToPriest.com and yes, haste is still ahead of crit and mastery by a mile. Now to double check my priority system and enjoy the goodbye Cataclysm party tonight!

Farewell Cataclysm, you won’t be missed but thanks for all the fish! *watches countdown timer eagerly*

What did you like most about Cataclysm?

What Do You Guys Like Seeing Here?

I know the awesomes amongst you will say, “Anything! We heart you!” *cough* ((Still don’t believe you but I’ll take your word for it!)) But I would genuinely like to know which of my posts you guys enjoy the most. I don’t have too much time to blog constantly.. I’m pretty busy with Once Upon A Time (my book blog) doing the memes, networking, reading, writing the reviews, and so on, but I actually got my interest in gaming back. Okay, not counting my little affair with Sims 3 because really, do you want to read about how my lesbian sims are fighting because one of them shaved her head and the kids are getting themselves off to school? Seriously think Dan must think I’m nuts when I’m playing that the kind of commentary he gets. But I got my interest in WoW back a little. I’ve been casually doing my auctions, I finally did Ulduar 25 on my Hunter and got the drake and the title, I’ve done a few instances, found a great spot to farm the Oozeling, and I started finally levelling my Warlock using the Real ID grouping thingy for the first time (hi Kev!). So yeah. Though I am working out what to do about the whole ‘who is my main?’ situation, because all of my achievements and collections are on my Priest and my Hunter, I don’t enjoy my Priest, my Hunter’s okay.. but I really enjoy my Death Knight and my Warlock who barely have anything and I’m not entirely cool with starting again and it feels kinda weird collecting achievements and pets on a character I don’t plan to play.

I don’t want to do a “and then I did this and then I got this achievement and then we all were like WOOT” kinda post. I could. But I don’t want to. Guides are great but so time consuming and I’m still not sure if there’s a working version of WoW Model Viewer these days? Plus they’re no fun if nobody reads them though, when I get around to replying to my emails (I got pretty bad at that recently) I might be able to remedy that. I’ve been having a pretty tough time so the lighter posts just aren’t in me. And then you get the great discussion posts, the ‘feminism in World of Warcraft’, and the ‘why 10 mans are better than 25 man raids’, the kind of things that people have opinions on and they become hot topics (sometimes) and the lovely folk at MMO Melting Pot link back to and people disagree and they’re fun and.. I don’t know if I have any of those.

So! I’m asking you guys, as you’re the ones who have to read it. Well you don’t I guess, but I’d really like it if you did else who else will? So you kinda do have to read it. Jus’ sayin’. What would you like to see here? What kinds of posts do you most enjoy from me? Anything I’ve mentioned, or anything I haven’t mentioned that you have in mind at all, posts you’ve enjoyed in the past, please leave them in the comments. I don’t bite! Unless you don’t leave comments then I might. If you have any prompts even better, I’m grateful for all the muse I can get because I’m pretty stumped and that’s why I’ve been so quiet over here recently.

PS. I have 2 blogs on the same server space. One will auto-update perfectly fine. The other just refuses to and I have to manually update everytime a plugin has a new update. This is a pain, any ideas how to fix it? Would reeeally appreciate help on that matter!

NICEST Pug

I’m bored of my Priest. I don’t want to reroll, I’ve done way too much with the character to just drop it. It isn’t the achievements so much, it’s the mounts and pets and all of the help I’ve had getting to the point she’s at. But I’m bored of her and I don’t enjoy healing enough. I’ve been pottering around with my alts – levelling the Hunter here and there doing instances with the other half on his Goblin and playing around a bit with Soupdragon, who is another character I’m quite attached to, my Night Elf Death Knight on another server – and it made me realise that I enjoy Death Knight dps a lot more than I do Shadow dps, which isn’t so much enjoyable any more as it is comfortable. The trouble with my Death Knight is that she is on a server on which I don’t really know anybody so I thought it might be an idea to level the Death Knight on my main server instead.

This Death Knight, who happens to be yet another Blood Elf, is actually older than Soup but at the time I decided I’d try out the Alliance side quests on a PvE server and play around a bit. Kalithe, the Blood Elf, has come close to being deleted a few times but I’m kinda glad I didn’t now. She still had some leather/mail gear equipped, her talents were blank, her glyphs were out of whack, needed to send over heirlooms from 4 different characters, train things and tidy up her bar set up a bit, but I didn’t have to do Outlands again!

I did a fair few instances when I got around to playing her yesterday, nothing that really stuck in memory at first. Bad tanks, average groups, the usual silence. And I’d been selecting instances I needed rather than letting it random me in Old Kingdom/Azjol Nerub over and over.. which it does. So when I got a Drak’tharon I was pretty happy, and when I saw the Orc Hunter wearing a pink dress, naturally, I took a screenshot. The group was very nice, and despite the Hunter deciding to tame a raptor that you can much easier get from Outland and parts of The Barrens, we let him tame a silly raptor and had a joke about the name and it was all very nice.

Then I got Drak’tharon again. I was running around with my Windrider Cub out because he’s adorable and the Enhancement Shaman whispered me asking where it’s from. I always find it quite nice when people notice something small like that and point it out or ask about it, just a moment of recognition from other players. So we kept on. The tank was good, the healer was good, the Warlock confused me with his big purple circles on the floor (I kept moving out of them), and the dps Shaman was fairly chatty. The instance was finished in no time. Painless and fun. So somebody asked if we wanted to do some more and well, why not.

This is the point in which I had to endure randoms, but it was experience and fun with a friendly group, which are pretty rare so I wasn’t going to complain when we got Azjol Nerub followed by Old Kingdom (what’d I tell ya?). I had only planned to do the one more after Drak’tharon but these runs were taking maybe 10 minutes and they were genuinely fun. The thing that got me thinking was when the Shaman said, “You know what gets me? After this, I’ll probably never run with you guys again.” Awww. It made me think, yet again, about the idea of some kind of cross-server preference list. I’m not sure how it’d work really. Similar to an ignore list, I suppose, except you could add people that you enjoyed playing with and if you were queuing at the same time, perhaps it could do its best to put you together in future. Bit of a weak idea, but we already have Real ID so I wouldn’t expect a cross-server friends list. Not only would it not happen, but even if it did somehow you’d have to pay for it of course. It is sad that I’ll never group with them again, but I’m also glad. After several terrible pugs that really put me in a bad mood over the weekend, it was like a breath of fresh air to group with a bunch of nice, competent, chatty and funny people. So okay, maybe it wasn’t the “nicest” pug I’ve ever had, but it was up there, and it was definitely the nicest pug I’ve had in the past couple of weeks since I came back.

*Small Wave*

‘Ello :) So it’s been pretty quiet around the menagerie the past couple of months, eh? Those of you who still follow me on twitter and over at The Rant Page will probably know by now that I resubbed to WoW, but don’t worry, The Rant Page will still be my main blog. The main details of my unsubbing from Rift and subsequent resubbing to WoW are in my post here, if you’d like to know, but I’m not going to be repeating myself because the TLDR of it is that I wasn’t having enough fun and decided to see what was going on in WoW, and honestly, is it really that important?

I wasn’t sure whether I should pop back over here and say hello while I’m playing, or whether I should leave it be and just let my WoW blog lie, but I don’t see the harm. So for now, I’m cleaning off the cobwebs. I’ve updated the links in my sidebar blogroll, and I’ve been trying to sort out my out of date plugins, but for some reason I have to do it all manually so it’s proved to be a struggle and some I just can’t update because the automatic updates won’t work and a fair few have gone premium. So.. if plugins are missing, it’s because I’m too lazy to find new ones to replace them and tough!

As for what brought me back, not only do I get to play with Mr Ryyu, the boy shaped one, and some other friends (even the ones I just chat to on Real ID from time to time), but there is more than enough to do. The thing that really turned my head, if I’m being honest, is the WoW Hunter class. I adore Hunters, and I really enjoyed Ranger/Marksman in Rift, it felt comfortable, but nothing feels to me quite like the WoW Hunter, so as I don’t have £30 lying around for Fae’s transfer, a new Fae is born on Vashj for the purposes of fun. She was going to be a Goblin but at the last minute turned into a Blood Elf. Well.. what do you know? Yes I’m terrible, shutup, I’m not even particularly in love with Blood Elves I just didn’t want to be short or hairy. We all know that Draenei are the superior race, after all ;) *cough* But yes, I may blog a little about her antics. She’s already level 18 with a handful of rare pets.

Aside from Huntering, I’m also playing my Priest a fair bit. Though I say I missed the Hunter class, I’m not rerolling this time. Seithir is my main, and I doubt that will change. I have done and collected a heck of a lot on her and I will always be slightly attached. I’ve been gearing her up in heroics whilst farming Justice Points for my Hunter’s (and later on, Shaman’s) heirlooms. I don’t want to raid, and I don’t plan to or need to either. Zul’Gurub is awesome! Though not so fond of Zul’Aman.. that’s mostly because of bad memories of failed bear runs, scout-based wipes, and so on.. *shudder* I’ve been carrying on with my pet collection (which I have updated Warcraft Pets with, and I’m praying I find the money for a Cenarion Hatchling because I have wanted the baby hippogryph pet since I first saw it but no way I could afford a TCG card) and the odd auction, and last night finally got around to doing a chunk of Archaeology, I’m finally past 450! I also got the Vrykul Drinking Horn, which is .. interesting. I have been enjoying playing with friends, and Softthistle even came over, which is lovely!

I have been tidying my blogroll as well. I mentioned the sidebar blogroll, and I’ve gone through my main blogroll as well as my reader, removing blogs past, and updating urls. It’s nice to see so many of you are still going! (Yes, I still like exclamation marks and bracketed text). I am wondering though, as I’ve been away for 3 months and didn’t pay too close attention just before I’d quit the game, are there any new and/or awesome bloggers that you think I’ve missed? I don’t plan to add to the blogroll, but if they aren’t on there now, they aren’t in my reader, and I’d like them to be. Please leave links in the comments, or poke me on twitter, I will keep my eye on Akismet.

All in all, despite the immature and selfish behaviour you tend to find in this game, and I’m not sure how long for, I’m glad to be back. :)
