A Week’s Worth of Updates

I wanted to report on these little updates in separate posts but what with a couple of non-update posts and blog downtime ((sorry about that by the way, trying to move servers from my current to Reliq’s and there’s a combination of it having a strop and me being inept, there will be further downtime at the weekend)) I just haven’t had chance so here’s what I’ve been upto recently!

Main Who?

First and foremost, I’ve decided not to reroll. I’ve been back and forth a lot over the past few weeks, but as it turns out I’m still too comfortable with my delightful little Shadow Priest who has been my (on/off) main since early TBC and is the same character I played when I met Dan and Kait (who is my new boyfriend apparently). Also, when you’re trying to eat mid-Terrace of the Endless Springs LFR and it just happens to be the single worst LFR group you have ever been in ((no joke)) and you still have issues with the new flat laptop keyboard and the fact that 3 is next to w and Frost Orb is next to w and despite standing miles away it still heads over to the boss regardless while people are eating up after yet another wipe and then the finger pointing starts.. ahem. I do love her though, I just can’t reroll right now. Shadow Priest is just my thing this expansion. Blizzard have really fixed not only the dps, but also the playstyle. If you spec and glyph right, the playstyle becomes a lot more bursty and just so damn fun. Plus the self heals are amazing for soloing things.

The Cutest Little Rogue

In my Project Insanity post, I mentioned I’d started up a baby Rogue. Well here she is:

Isn’t she just adorable?! I have completely fallen in love with Lady Pandas and their [spazziness] ((I really tried to find a better word but this one just encapsulates what I’m trying to say so well)) , it really suits me down to the ground so when the option was between Human and Panda, and the unanimous vote fell to Panda (and one Gnome /shoo!), I didn’t put up any arguements. The name was a struggle as I’d been holding on to ‘Kalithe’ for my Rogue which is literally ‘Kali the’ and that just doesn’t scream Panda to me so I asked and Dan said Khili and it stuck. I love it! I slowly but surely worked my way through the Panda starting zone. I’ve done it before but found myself incredibly bored and just trying to make it end, so this time I soaked it in and found myself thoroughly enjoying it this time around.

I adore yaks. The yak cart gets me every time!

Insanity All Around – Hip Hip Arr!

We’ve also been trying our hands at the Love Dungeon but short of a couple of neck upgrades for my shiny 90s there hasn’t been a lot of luck. Plus I keep forgetting to do it because ugh effort. Still, it’s worth it purely for giving us the ability to say, “Anybody fancy the love dungeon? Space for two!” *giggle*

Along the lines of Project Insanity, we gained a fourth person – Flaps, a healer. So with our nice little farming spot in the Blacksmith hut in Booty Bay, we got ourselves up to friendly pretty quickly. With a couple other.. erm.. side events.. along the way. Not too long before we get honoured and can move on to the next part.

Hip hip… arr…

The Reputations That Need More Love

Last but not least, I’m back working on my Priest’s reputations. She was getting pretty close with Brood of Nozdormu and Hydraxion Waterlords so with any luck those two will be finished within the next few weeks finally! Mine and Rel’s foray into AQ40 was a lot of fun as well. As for the others, I’m doing my best to get my dailies done. Kait really helped keep me focused today by doing Shieldwall and August Celestials with me and prodding me to go do Anglers as well! Then I only had Klaxxi and Shado-Pan left so off I went and ta-da!

It’s taken me a long time but I’m so so happy! I adore this tiger mount model and I’ve been desperate for it since the first time I saw it. Sorry Swift Alliance Steed, you’ve been replaced.

Heroic Transmogging Achievement Runs

Oh! I almost forgot to mention the transmog runs we’ve done recently. My Hunter finally got her Illidan bow!! Squee. It suits her transmog set so nicely. And Monday night, 10 of us went off to do Bastion of Twilight HC and HC Dragon Soul. Bastion was cleared, netting us a guild achievement for Sinestra and the title ‘Dragonslayer’ which is awfully nifty. I do like dragons. Dragon Soul we got up to Spine before folk were itching to head off to bed. Hopefully we’ll have some fresh clears for transmog kit, further achievements towards the drake meta, and fun. I’m dying to get the heroic version of the Time Lord set for my Mage, I adore that set and missed out on the white version from LFR. I’m also really really hoping for the heroic tier 11 chest for my Priest’s transmog. I’m pretty sure that is my favourite robe ingame, or at least way up there.

One of many things I missed from not raiding in Cataclysm

So yes, we’re all up to date now. Back to business as usual and apologies for future downtime. We should be good until the weekend but the server move is going to go through. Ta-ta!

Movie Mog: Brave

I keep seeing entries for Matty’s Movie Mog Contest around the blogosphere during my tidying of the Reader and blogroll adventures and thought it’d be fun to join in!

I spend a lot of time just playing with MogIt ((I’m planning to do a guide on how to use it soon as I’ve had a lot of questions about this)) so piece of cake.

My favourite movie is non-existent. Not only am I not a big movie watcher, but when I do I tend to keep adding to the list of favourites so I thought I’d go with one that made an impact on me recently: Pixar’s Brave. Yeah, it took me this long to watch it but Merida is an amazing character, the exploration of the bond between mother and daughter is utterly amazing, and the Celtic fantasy world it is set in had the fantasy and history geek in me jumping up and down.

While I know the rules said three characters, I wasn’t entirely sure how to mog the three little brothers or the gigantic dad so have two. I’m also aware that this particular mog would have looked better with a cloth robe but Merida would have to be a Hunter mog and so it had to be mail. This is also how I managed two characters!

Merida and her mother

A better image to base Merida’s transmog on

- For the robe look I’ve combined Wave of Life Chestguard with Kilt of Spiritual Reconstruction and popped on a Blue Workman’s Shirt for the sleeves.
- The bow is Satyr’s Bow from Dire Maul.
- Sadly I can’t add in a quiver but I have used Fortified Belt for the tan strap attaching the quiver to her.
- And the cloak is Blackmetal Cape. The only cloaks I found any plainer were too short or golden edged so I thought the Celtic-styled pattern suited the character quite nicely.

As for the bits I’ve not included in my image, but just to complete the mog for folk who might like to wear this I’ve gone with Grunt’s Pauldrons for the shoulders which both match and can be reasonably ignorable. Fastfuse Gloves suit the set quite well and don’t hide her hands completely. As for boots, I’m not 100% sure what boots she’s wearing so go wild and pick something brown. I equipped Plane-Shifted Boots at random trying to go for a basic look.

If only Gnomes could be ginger… This image of the family inspired me to complete Merida’s mother’s human outfit

For Merida’s mother I was able to use cloth – woohoo! When it comes to weapon, I’d go with something gold but her mother isn’t seen wielding a weapon so I haven’t included one in the image.

- For this robe I thought Conjurer’s Robe has the right pattern to make it look as though it flares to match the characters’ dress. Sadly the sleeves aren’t flared so I had to make do with coupling it with a Cerulean Filigreed Doublet, which is available from Dalaran. The colours aren’t perfect but the look is much better than without. And trust me when I say the sleeves are flared ingame, WMV is just stubborn.
- The belt took me a little bit of browsing but Ruthless Gladiator’s Cord of Accuracy is the best I could find to suit her golden chain-belt style. With the pattern on the robe, it gets away with not having the chain hanging down at the front.
- The crown absolutely has to be Eye of Theradras.
- And I threw in the Mistyreed Gloves as well. They don’t cover the sleeves and hide reasonably well too.

The shoulders not featured in the image I think suit best are Green Silken Shoulders. Again, they match with the colour scheme without standing out too much. And shoes, again.. go nuts. I’m not sure you ever really see Merida’s mother’s feet but I just went with Boots of the Mourning Widow.

I’d love to see more entries for this contest, it’s a lot of fun!

Jae Goes A’Gearing

I had a lot of fun writing about my WoW updates last week so I thought I’d do another about my Mage since dinging 90!

I so have a little girl crush on Wrathion *licks*

The first thing I did was made sure she had all the craftables available.. apart from the Jewelcrafting neck and rings because I always seem to replace them uber fast, though I regretted that a few days later when I’d still had no luck with a ring and ended up crafting one and using justice points to buy another! I’d bought the Inscription offhand and crafted the two epics on my Priest for her, though Dan wanted to send me a gift of the same gloves so I equipped his and sold the ones I made for 1900g which is a nice little boost towards the Brelly Yak I’m saving for!

Next I believe I did some dailies with Dan.. no! I tell a lie, a bunch of us went to Icecrown 25 for Rippur’s legendary quest and transmog. We all hopped on Mumble and had a laugh. Rip got a fair bit done for his quest which was awesome, I got a handful of weapons and 3 tokens towards the normal mode Mage tier 10. It was a good night. So good then we went off and did Sunwell, where I got that gorgeous book offhand, and Black Temple afterwards. Funtimes!

Friday I finally had the chance to start doing some gearing and popped into a few heroics. I got a couple of upgrades that evening (I think? Or was that Thursday?), and more fun was had. I believe we also did Mogushan Vaults LFR on Friday as well which is where I tested out Arcane, got a trinket, flailed about looking for decent guides and blogs and such for Mage advice, and a very wise Mage on Twitter reminded me that so long as you’re having fun that’s all that matters, damage is still high anyway. So yeah, fuck Arcane, I’m staying Frost. It’s a little higher than Fire at the moment and a lot of fun. Arcane’s too.. stand still and spam this for my liking. *yawn*

Saturday I suddenly remembered it was Saturday and tried to get the Saturdayist or whatever it’s called and also hoped for some nommy loots in the little boxes. There were 3 or 4 of us in rotation and we did 8 scenarios towards the guild goal which was awesome, and had a good chat on Mumble with Steve and a newer guildy who is turning out to be a fun person. I like her. Didn’t get much gear doing random scenarios but lots of achievements, a pair of 463 ilvl bracers and I’m just 3 off the Saturday achievement now which I can specific another Saturday.

Shortly after this one was taken, those two started pressing space bar. A lot. Hilarious!

I believe it was also Saturday when I was in Ironforge (it’s been pointed out to me that Ironforge is a much nicer place to chill and do auctions than Stormwind because “portal plz mage” gets really annoying) and a Gnome started waving at me! This is nothing new. Gnomes wave at me quite often so I smiled at it and then I was asked if I was Jaedia from Twitter! ‘Scuse my excitement but this was my first CRZ meeting with anybody. It turned out to be Nev from AH Addict and we had a nice little chat. /wave! :D

I spent a lot of Sunday finishing off Dread Wastes to make sure I’d unlocked all of the Klaxxi dailies and rep I could while queuing for specific dungeons, I’d found myself a little unlucky the previous few days so decided as I was valor capped it’d be best if I queued for dungeons that I could actually get drops from. By the end of the night I was 1 ilvl off being able to do Heart of Fear and ToeS LFR (thanks Love Dungeon!), so today I specifically queued for a few more and got myself a hat! So Dan and myself pootled off and did the first part of HoF. I still haven’t done the rest of LFR because we spent the evening doing Naxx 25 with a few of us, as well as Sarth 3D 25, Malygos 25 and a little later myself and Kait did Trial 10 man. Again, a lot of fun and I picked up soo many shinies my bank is crying! Here’s my new transmog as a result:

I’m really happy with it! I was running around in full tier 6 before because I’d struggled to come up with something unique but this works for me. It’s a nice mix of all sorts and yeah – yay! I’ve put in a lot of effort to gear this fast (the joys of being unemployed?) and I’m really pleased with how far little Jae has come in such a short time. She’s about ready to start joining in with guild raids! Keep your fingers and toes crossed for me for the rest of LFR tomorrow. Now I’m off to level a panda Rogue for a little project which I may talk about another time. :3

My Priest’s Transmog Set

As promised, here is a little post detailing my Priest’s transmogrification set. In some slots I have included other options, these are mostly other choices for slots in which I’ve used items unavailable to non-Priests and also cloaks and weapons. I personally prefer her helmless without the tier 7 halo but I shall be using that when I get one!

I recommend checking out the ‘same model as’ tab so that you can get the item which is easiest for you to farm. Do keep your eye out in trade though, as horrid as it is, there are usually pugs going to various places with some fantastic hidden gems!

My biggest ‘bleh’ about transmog is that unless your weapon has an inbuilt enchant effect, like the staff pictured below, it will show your current weapon enchant and I can’t stand how you can’t see the weapons through them but hey ho. There are ways around it you just need to choose a weapon with an enchant effect already or something that carries the enchant well.

That New Content Feeling

Patch 4.3 couldn’t have come at a better time. With NaNoWriMo over and done with on Tuesday and my most recent book review written and published (that’s important because it took me a few hours to get right), I logged into my Priest happily to play around with void storage and do a few of the new 5 mans with the manface. Aren’t they great? While I was waiting, I got myself a Glyph of Shadow, which is awesome, and played around on my new horse. I was accused in guild of liking boys because I like the Tyrael’s Charger but I of course slapped that down with a great big, “Yes, I do like boys, and why does it matter?” And then continued to enjoy my pony.

The new instances gave me a distinctly familiar feeling. I’m awful at remembering the names because it has been so many months, but the first instance reminded me of one of the mid-level instances in Rift, the last part reminded me of the desert zone, and the third one reminded me of one of the later Rift instances. No, not being all, “They clearly copied Rift!” Just an observation. I loved them. They’re new content with new gear and the storyline is interesting. What’s not to love? Plus that second one has really made me appreciate Night Elf Shadow Priests…

And something seems a little off about Tyrande…

And how could I not include this one? Possibly my favourite of the new bosses and it looks freaking cool.

We did a few with the same Rogue and healer who we met in a pug and were both competent and friendly and that’s a pretty rare event. It’s always nice when you do get those kinds of pugs. I may have awwwed a little when the healer left with, “Nice to meet you.” I thought that was a little adorable.

I got myself a new wand, finally netting myself Cataclysmically Epic after a year.. though it did put my achievement points back into the 5s! And my first pair of dropped non-blue shoulders, and a helm, 2 rings, an offhand, and the tier 12 chest, getting me upto 369 ilvl from 361. I’ll be good for the raid finder in no time! Then today I picked up the staff from the last instance so I can finally use Anathema *squee* (and knock my ilvl upto 370 but that’s less important, right?). *strokes the pretty*

After, we ran through Black Temple with a friend and another guildy (the non-douchey variety, hooray), not only did I gain about 1,000 gold from that run but it was fun. We just finished a little later than hoped but oh well. I transmogged my gear fully and went off to bed.

I am absolutely in love with this set. I never got the chance to wear tier 4 when it was current because I was a Tailoring Shadow Priest *grumbles* and for those of you who weren’t around in Burning Crusade, the Shadoweave set (shoulders, chest, and boots) you made with tailoring was best in slot until tier 6. Obviously that’s just the shoulders but I do also have the robe in void storage.

How are you enjoying the new content? Or are you perhaps disappointed thus far?
